The two people Anna trusted most betrayed her…
Silent Steps is the follow up book to Seven Stops. The storyline continues immediately from where the first book ends. However, this second book, is also standalone.
I prevaricated loads as to whether to continue using the theme of ‘seven’ from the first novel. It would have meant beginning Silent Steps after seven years had elapsed. Lynsey, would be starting university, Ashleigh and Alex aged 23, would be working, and just imagine the havoc Jack at high school, aged 14, could be causing. But that doesn't mean he isn't disruptive in this book; he is and it's what he does best.
Had I made that choice, the story would have had loads of flashbacks. While flashbacks are an excellent device, they can hinder and slow the pace of the plot too.
My characters have been biting their nails for years to live their lives and move forwards. Finally, they're out, they're free and doing their stuff! They're good, they're bad and they're beautiful. Especially Max. He's rather...ahem!
A lot happens in Silent Steps. I hope you enjoy it.
