If 3 'P's (not pears, plums, peas, etcetera - take your pick), are Planning, Preparing and Publishing, then what would 3 'T's be?
I think for this blog post, how about Teasing, Tempting, Titillating? Yes, this is another blog on writing erotica.
Do followers mind when their author changes lanes mid-swim? I write in many genres and would love to know.
I also digress a lot.
Earlier this year, many moons ago when I wasn't writing, I thought I'd do a sexy story and get it out there for Easter (2021). Easter Bunny is what I came up with but a friend suggested Bunny With Benefits. A much better title; suggestively naughty, definitely titillating and teasingly tempting.
As always selecting the characters' names was difficult - whether naming a novel or a short story, many authors struggle. Maybe because our creative juices are only x-amount, who knows. So despite having the theme, knowing the ending with these stories is a given (wink, wink), a title and who were enacting the delicious acts, the actual start was criminally difficult.
After several weeks of starts, stops and rewrites, I managed just over 900 words (each one a gem? I'm humble and will say, 'no'), and stopped completely.
Here's a snippet from BUNNY WITH BENEFITS by Robyn Cain aka ME!
‘Susi, I’m desperate.’
‘That sounds a bit dodgy, not that I’m not concerned,’ Susi replied, laughter in her voice.
Whenever he either telephoned or called round and started with that same sentence, it was in relation to something having gone wrong with or for him and it inevitably impacted in her life.
‘No, I swear it isn’t anything like the last time, but it’s just that…’ Sam leaned inwards as if to enter and then paused, remaining framed in the doorway, arms stretched either side of him, the muscles in his upper arms bunching.
That pause of his was familiar, as was the effect it had on her - and had done for the past year. She sucked in her breath as the tingle started.
Casually Sam pushed back his hair, and the usual tingle reignited just below her right shoulder blade. She wanted to tell him his long sexy hair needed an urgent cut, because every time it flopped over his eye, she felt the urge to drag him into her woman’s den and make him forget whatever he’d come to see her about.
I think you should continue.
I also write in a number of different genres. Not sure it helps with sales but it keeps my imagination working.
